Cell Processing

In order to provide advanced cosmetic surgery, it is essential to maintain a high level of quality of facilities and of medical process management.

In the CAL tissue augmentation procedure CELLPORT THAILAND provides, stem cells to be transplanted are extracted from aspirated fat. In addition, stem cells are also extracted from the liquid obtained from liposuction, which is normally discarded when traditional liposuction/lipoinjection procedures are performed, and then processed in order to increase the concentration of stem cells in the fat that will be re-injected. Since processed stem cells are transplanted into a patient’s body, the environment where those procedures are performed should be sterilized and well-equipped.

Operating rooms are directly connected to the CPCs, so that procedures such as liposuction, cell extraction, and lipo-transplant can be completed as a set of procedures in a sterilized environment. These operating rooms that are directly connected to CPCs are critical to performing the procedures that are at the heart of CELLPORT THAILAND.

In addition, during cell processing, accidents and mistakes are unacceptable. Therefore, this procedure is performed in accordance with the regulations which stipulate all the processes of the procedure in detail.

Cell Extraction Procedure

  1. Fat mixed with a liquid is harvested from the donor site(s).
  2. The liquid is extracted and set aside.
  3. The fat (adipose) is divided into two parts, one part stored for transplant.
  4. As many stem cells as possible are extracted from the other part of the fat, hence Adipose-Derived Cells (ADC).
  5. The ADC extracted are mixed with the stored fat.
  6. Stem cells are then extracted from the liquid that has been extracted first.
  7. These stem cells, too, are added to the stored fat.
  8. The stem cell enriched fat is transplanted back into the patient’s body, hence “Cell-Assisted Lipotransfer (CAL)”.

In the case of patients with insufficient fat to allow division into two parts, the fat is not divided. However, steps 3 – 5 are left out. Stem cells are only extracted from the liquid and these are then added to the fat. This shortened process is referred to as ‘miniCAL’.

The entire CAL extraction process lasts 1 – 2 hours. The stem cell enriched fat is transplanted within a few hours without freezing.

Clean Panel

In order to maintain a sterilized environment, a special material called “Clean Panel”, which is resistant to corrosion or degradation caused by wet cleaning, is used on the wall surfaces of the CPC rooms. This panel is filled with resin. Therefore the temperature and humidity inside the CPC can be easily controlled.

Air Conditioning

Inside the CPC, the temperature and humidity is controlled around the clock and its hygienic environment is well maintained. The air supplied to the sterilized area is purified through highly efficient filters, which remove 99.97% of airborne particles, including microbes and dust, from the air. In addition, the pressure of the CPC rooms is also controlled to prevent airborne particles from entering the CPC.

Design of Traffic Pattern

The movement of people and goods inside a building is referred to as “traffic”. If traffic patterns are complicated, dust or microbes can be easily raised, which may result in bacterial contamination. The traffic patterns in CELLPORT THAILAND are designed to be simple, and traffic is controlled to maintain cleanliness and to avoid contamination.

Process Management

Process Management

Regulations stipulated in the Standard Operation

The processes of cell processing performed in CELLPORT THAILAND were developed and optimized through the joint study conducted by Biomaster Inc. and research institutes such as universities. The detailed regulations of these processes are provided in the Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), and in accordance with the regulations, we perform safe and secure cell processing.

Record keeping

Cell processing involves several steps, and all the processes are recorded in detail. These records are kept and managed for a long period of time so that even many years later we can still identify or confirm what kind of cell processing was performed.

Thorough hygiene control

Based on the hygiene control system set forth, a sterilized environment without any particles (such as dust) are maintained in operating rooms where liposuction and transplantation are conducted and CPC rooms where cell processing is performed. If the inside of a facility is contaminated with blood or other substances, the facility is thoroughly cleaned and sterilized in order to prevent secondary infection caused by blood that has contaminated other equipment or individuals.

Policy on management of medical equipment/supplies

Concerning medical equipment/supplies used in procedures, we use sterilized disposable medical equipment/supplies as much as possible in order to avoid any contamination or infection. When medical equipment/supplies are not disposable, the equipment/supplies are sterilized using high-temperature and high-pressure, before use, to prevent bacterial contamination of cells through equipment/supplies.
